DAISY books are structured audio books. Using a DAISY reader, the text is highlighted as the user reads. In addition, the user can navigate the document using the heading structure, pages and page numbers. Users can also insert bookmarks and change the visual appearance of the book.
SensusAccess can convert accessible documents into structured audio books in the DAISY format. Source documents must be submitted as Word documents and must comply with the formal accessibility requirements. Source documents may include mathematical equations and other scientific notation created with a proper equation editor such as MathType. Similarly, source documents may contain multi-lingual contents.
The DAISY conversion features are further explained in Module 8 of the SensusAccess e-learning course (opens new page). Design and creation of documents that comply with the formal accessibility requirements is further explained in Module 6 of the SensusAccess e-learning course (opens new page).
